Today I had a client who was unable to edit an Excel file and when I checked the security settings and permissions she was listed as an Administrator and all looked good
The file said it had not been in use for weeks and the user said no one was using the file so it should not be locked
To finally resolve this issue I went to the server - Start Menu - Administrative Tools and opened up Share and Storage Management
On the right hand side there is an option for Manage Open Files
this was where I searched for the excel file name she told me and found it open by another user
on the right hand side of that screen showing the file there is an option to close the file
once I did that everything was good to go

Introduction
On this blog I will be posting information from my work that I found useful to myself and hopefully benefit others searching the web looking for a way to resolve an issue. I have created many blogs online just playing around and testing out designs and communicating with friends but this one I will focus on more serious things and occasionally post up random stuff just for myself to take notes.
Stay tuned!
